Picnic in Paris Bridal Shower

When your sister and her fiancé first started dating in Paris, the next best thing you can do is bring a little bit of Paris to her bridal shower. My vision was for this to have a touch of Paris, without being over the top. I decided to go with a floral picnic theme while sprinkling in nods to Paris.

First thing I focused on was the decor. I found a design I liked and applied it across the invitations, welcome/drinks/gifts signs, and games. I purchased Parisian looking frames from Amazon in both 5x7 and 8x10 sizes to dress up the signs and better connect the theme.

I rented a few high top tables and decorated them with white table runners and mini assorted vases filled with a variety of colorful wildflowers. Of course, I had to have an Eiffel Tower to help bring it all together.

The food and drinks were next. I had a bubbly bar complete with champagne and a few juices, a custom cocktail, Lavender Lemonade, that I knew my sister would like and of course tied in the theme, some wine, beer, water and soda. I also got little butterfly drink stirrers to make the drinks look more fun.

For food, I really dove into the theme. I had croissant sandwiches, quiches, a charcuterie board, fruit platter and seasonal salad. For desserts, we of course had macaroons, madeleines, petit fours, and Eiffel Tower shaped cookies and brownies.

For serve ware and tableware, I kept it simple except for the “She Said Oui” napkins, which may have been my favorite thing. I had plastic cups, plates and utensils. As well as serving platters, bowls, and tiered dessert trays.

Because it’s a bridal shower, I had to have some games but didn’t want them to take away from everyone hanging out and catching up. I had three main “games” that everyone could play at their own leisure and one game that was for us all to play together.

  • The first was writing advice or a note to the bride. I made a sign that listed out what to do, printed little blank cards and bought a box and some pens and left it out for everyone to do what they wanted.

  • We also played a traditional shower game where everyone took a ring and anytime you overhead someone saying the word “bride,” you could steal their ring. Whoever had the most rings at the end of the party, was the winner.

  • Since this shower was Paris and travel centered, we played a game that was specific to the couple called “where in the world were they.” For this game, I put 10 photos of the couple on a poster board and everyone had to guess where the photos were. At the end, whoever had the most right, was the winner.

  • Finally, we played a couples trivia game. I created a slideshow presentation with questions about the couple (where did they meet, where did they get engaged, who’s messier, etc.). As an added surprise, I had video clips of the groom sharing the answers with the group. The bride was so surprised and everyone loved it.

No party or shower is complete without the proper attire. I ordered berets for myself and the bride and couldn’t forget about our dogs (you can see how happy they are to be wearing hats).

Finally, I got cute flower tin candles as party favors for all of the attendees. I paired this with a thank you note from the bride and we were good to go!
